Chingrir Malaikai

Prawn dishes are very common in bengalis. I love prawns. It is easily available in Bangalore and you get all sizes. My husband loves this dish when I prepare it at home. It is very easy and takes very small time to cook.


1. Medium sized Prawns - 250 grams.
2. Half  small size Coconut - grated.
3. Poppy seeds - 1 tablespoon.
4. Mustard seeds - 1 tablespoon.

5. Green chillies - Slit.
6. Salt.
7. Turmeric Powder.
8. Mustard Oil - 2 tablespoon.


1. Clean the prawns well and put in a Microwave bowl.
2. Put the grated coconut. Grind the Poppy seeds and Mustard seeds with a green chilly. Add the paste with the prawns. Put salt and turmeric powder.
3. Finally add the green chillies and mustard oil. Mix everything thoroughly with little water.
4. Cover with lid and microwave for 7-8 minutes.
5. After taking out the bowl  add some mustard oil over the dish.

The delicious Chingrir Malaikari is ready to serve with rice.
